We were invited to contribute to the “Gimme Shelter” gallery showing in Pasadena, California, and our newest project premieres April 25th and continues through May 9th, 2015 at SPACE. It is an exhibition of handmade birdhouses in the artist's choice of medium. Shelter is inherently vital because of that which it protects, and mounted on this rustic abandoned birdhouse, are wetplate collodion tintype images depicting those who might once have found sanctuary within its walls. This piece is a collision of the old and the new; what was once a forgotten haven is now given a rebirth and a voice through art.
Here we reveal our entered piece and encourage you to visit the exhibition if you have an opportunity, as this looks to be a diverse imagination-fueled event. More info on current and future exhibitions at SPACE can be found at http://spaceartscenter.com/exhibitions/
Kindred avian themes are woven throughout our previous project, “The Flight,” featured below in this blog. Enjoy!
