The initial bars of a song, a particularly unmistakable guitar riff, a memory tied to a musical moment… it is transporting. Music and art undeniably share this interlacing quality, which was reinforced for us as we toured the Gibson guitar factory in Memphis on a recent trip. These guitars, however, are wielded by human hands, and we celebrate that which gifted artists can achieve with passion and a kickin’ instrument.
What began as a beautifully unbelievable meeting over wine, developed into a rare and exciting opportunity to photograph a private collection of Gibson guitars. Here, we capture the ’55 Classic Gibson guitar. We mixed an old school wet plate tintype for the background, then integrated a digital full-color composite to enhance the timeless quality of this incredible instrument. The pure warmth and soul of the final product virtually sings.
A tool or technique, whatever the age, needs only the hands of someone with vision.
Hope you enjoy!
